Top-secret projects at the military were underway when a technique to reverse the effects of gravity were discovered. The energy produced by a certain machine affected the polarity of magnetic fields as powerful as the Earth's. These rays became known as G-Rays.

One day, a nameless lackey was ordered to fix the machine. However, he forgot to unplug it, and as soon as his wrench touched the internal wiring, the machine exploded with a tremendous force, killing everyone within three miles of the base.

Everyone, that is, except the nameless lackey. The machine had produced a small safe zone - the 'no-blast bubble', an area in a ten-foot radius around the machine where the explosion touched nothing. The lackey, due to his close proximity to the machine, was not harmed by the blast. However, he was subjected to the force of so many G-Rays that his body started producing them by itself.

The lackey soon realized his powers and renamed himself... THING.

Now the United States Army is after Thing for the senseless murder of about three thousand people and the destruction of equipment payed for by government money (mostly the second one), and the only thing stopping them is Thing himself.
